PRETTY NAILS – 2015 colour trends



Here are some beauty tips to get you looking and feeling your best.

Skincare. The best products you can use for blemishes are Simple brand products that aren’t harsh on your skin, or other non-perfumed products. Witch hazel and tee-tree is also good. Forget all the other advertised chemical filled products, trust me. The majority of them aggravate the skin. Don’t over-wash your face, it’ll irritate it and cause breakouts. Cleanser and toner are really good, and cheap! It gets off ALL your make-up. I cleanse and tone, and only ise Vichy moisteriser as it’s the only none greasy one I’ve found. Only wear make-up when you absolutely need to, and try to allow your skin to breathe, andneversleep in your make-up, ever! P.s if you have a complexion you’re not happy with, see your GP/Doctor for antibiotics, don’t just accept it, they can do something. Drink plenty of water to wash out the toxins also!

Make-up. When wearing foundation, ensure it’s the right shade by wiping a bit on your wrist. Always put foundation on your neck & blend it in, nothing worse than an orange ring around your face. Contour! Use bronzer along your cheekbones, nose and a little in the middle of your forehead and chin for a glow, and darken features you don’t particularly like with brown tone powders / creams, and highlight features you’re happy with. Kim Kardashian contours to enhance her cheek bones and slim her face. Don’t go overboard on the make-up, either heavy eyes and nude lips, or bold lips and natural eyes. If you do both, you’ll resemble a drag queen. Best foundation, non greasy: Maybelline dream matte mousse. Best mascara: Max Factor false lash effect. Best lipgloss: Juicy tubes or Chanel. Best lipstick: Barry M for all the colours, and again Chanel.

Fake tan. I’m a pro at this. I’ve tested so many! Shower and exfoliate first off. Half an hour after, apply moisturiser to your elbow, knee creases, over your eyebrows and along your hairline. You don’t want any of these really orange! Apply the fake tan. Always use a tanning mitt. Squirt tan onto the mitt, apply dots onto the body part you’re tanning (one at a time) such as leg, other leg, tummy, chest, arms, and rub it in gently in circular or straight movements. Once you’re complete, take the mitt off, squirt tan to the back of one hand, then rub it onto the back of your other hand & viola, no orange fingers. Best natural tan is: Loreal Sublime gel.

Eyebrows. Tint dye sets are good. Dye them yourself to darken them. The colour lasts for two weeks, and the packs last a few months. Failing which get them done pro, HD brows. Don’t over-tweeze, skinny brows don’t look good, Kate Moss even said brows are important, they frame your face. Pencil them in, but not too dark. You can even get stencils if you find the shaping difficult. Mine are tattooed on, semi permanent make-up, which I highly recommend. It’s like having an eyebrow lift, and you’ll look much younger! I won’t lie though, and tell you one application lasts 5 years, as it doesn’t. I had mine first done in April 2012, then a top up two weeks later, and again in Dec 2013. I need another application now, and it’s Mar 2015. They are 100% worth it though. No pencilling them in for a long while! The procedure isn’t bad, you choose your shape, colour, whether you want fine brushstrokes, or more false block looking brows. Numbing cream is then applied, and the tattooing itself just feels like slight scratching. Prices range from 200 pound and over.

Fashion. Never follow trends unless you’re Giselle Bundchen and would look good in a bin bag! Seriously, wear what suits you, and flatters your figure. Try everything on in shops and really see what suits you, then stick to it. Any outfit can appear glamorous with added dress jewellery, bling etc. Hi-waisted clothes are in fashion, but don’t suit me, so I avoid them. Dresses, and body-cons however do, so I just get several in different colours. The main thing in your wardrobe which you should spend the most on is a decent jacket, handbag and shoes, as you’ll use them a lot!

Hair, nails & teeth. To strengthen and look after nails and teeth, drink some milk per week, as you need calcium. Try not to have acrylic or other false nails, as they will weaken your own, or if you do wear them, ensure it’s not continuously, and give your nails a break. You should also take vitamins, 50+ type ones are good, one capsule packed with everything! Whitening strips are good for your teeth, or the DIY kits, such as Hollywood white. You put gel into a plastic mouth piece and leave it in for about 10 mins, although it may make your teeth sensitive.

Weight loss. Work out! I’ve only just started the gym and it’s boring, but it has to be done. If you hate it, buy an exercise or dance DVD and do it at home where you’re comfortable. Also, as you’ll be saving gym fees, look on E-bay/websites for gym equipment in your house. An exercise bike, pedals, mat, skipping rope don’t take up much room. Go out dancing! I must have stayed slim due to all my years partying, and dancing every weekend, burning it off. Stick to the same daily routine when eating, and if snacking, eat fruit, nuts or salad. Instead of cooking food in oil, buy a grill pan. Grill your meats, your bacon, eggs, veg etc. Oily foods are so fattening. Swap greasy chips for boiled or roast potatoes. Cut down on carbs. You’d be suprised how much weight drops off when bread especially is out of your diet. Lemon water is good and rinsing toxins and weight loss too.

I have it and must confess, it’s hard! Have only managed ten minutes on the abs each time, so let me know how you get on.



My hair used to be naturally long until about the age of 24 when the hairdresser got scissor happy and hacked off about 6 inches. Yes, I cried, and yes, I paid! My hair never grew again. Ever! Until the last year & a half. I stopped bleaching the crap out of it. All you blondes, have a break for a year or two, and go brunette to give your hair a break, seriously, it helps! I was blonde all my life until the past couple of years, and the condition has improved so much. Ditch the GHD’s, they burn your hair. All my friends use these, and unless you have really thick hair that can take the high heat temperature, I’d recommend buying some different straighteners, that aren’t so hot. Try not to use heat on your hair so much, or if you do, ensure you use heat protective sprays. Try allowing your hair to air-dry, and for styling, use velcro rollers, or braiding your hair for waves, and even wearing it up more. If you keep using heat, you’re causing the ends to snap off, it won’t grow. Use a conditioning mask twice a week. Oh, & use Morrocan oil, Argon Oil, coconut oil etc. Rub the oil in your hair, put a towel on, and leave it in for about 4 hours. It locks in natural oils and strengthens your hair. Also, don’t crash diet, your body stores the nutrients as it doesn’t know when it’ll be fed again, and the nutrients go to good use, usually not your hair, so always have breakfast, a snack, and dinner throughout the day, not changing your pattern.

1. Effortlessly sexy waves. Part your hair at the side, and using your curling tongs, create loose waves. Brush your fingers through your hair when finished, and use hair grips on one side of your hair.


2. Curl your hair at the ends, stopping at your ears. Twist it all, and clip into a high up-do. Play around with the curls, and position them with hair grips if needed. Allow some loose strands to fall either side of your forehead.


3. Braid the front section of your hair, securing it with a clear elastic at the end. Tie your hair into a pony-tail, or a bun. If you have a fringe, leave that section free at the front.


4. Scrape your hair back into a high pony-tail. Use a comb and hairspray to ensure it’s as neat as can be. Braid your pony-tail, and secure the end. Blake may be wearing hair extensions here, so if you’re into extensions, use them for a fuller, longer pony.


5. Again, tie your hair up, twist the ends at the back, and secure into a bun.


6. This is another effortless look. Part your hair an inch at the front, tie into a pony-tail. For a prettier look, and to hide your hair band, when tying your hair up, leave a piece of hair out at the back, at the nape of your neck. When you’ve tied the rest of your hair up, wrap the free piece of hair around the band, and secure with a hair grip underneath the pony.
