Layla Stevens

I was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma but moved to Pensacola, Florida in 1996. I have a huge family who I shocked them when I told them I was writing my first book. I have had a love a reading since I was young. Reading has always been my escape. I can read and be a princess or a warrior. Reading for me was always something magical. And I hope to pass that on to you all. I am 34 years old and writing my first book. I am married to my husband David who is being very supportive of my choice to write a book. {I think he likes the fact that I run ideas off his head.} But he would never tell anyone that. I also think he likes to tell his buddies my wife writes porn. {he he} I am blessed to be the mom of a little girl named Sage who is the light of my life.{I call her Olga, and she hates it} I did not give birth to her but I choose her. I am also trying to adopt another little girl named Lily but we all call her Bug who holds the other part of my heart. I am blessed with great friends who have always had my back. I have a lot to learn in this world of writing but, so far I am enjoying the ride. I have a fantastic Four that are my true loves. No names will be mentioned as they know who they are. I Love you all very much. {I didn’t included alters in that comment} I am always willing to help out anyone who is in need all you have to do is ask. I never knew that writing a book would show me so much about myself. I have learned so much in a short amount of time. And I can’t wait to learn more.

1.How did you start writing? Well to be honest I was doing a BETA reading and I hit it off with the author, who added me to her select group of friends. We were bouncing ideas off eachother and the girls in the group said ‘hey have you thought about writing your own,’ and the rest is history.

2.What is a usual writing day like for you? Well I am a full time mom, wife and I work fulltime and go to school online. So some days there is no writing unless it’s just a few words here and there. I get the most done when everyone is my house is asleep. So 2am – 5am is perfect for me. It’s quiet!

3.Do you get writers block? If so, how do you overcome it? I do unfortunately, and the best thing, I can whack away and close the laptop. I do listen to music though as I am brainstorming. I have my music when nothing is working for me.

4.Are you a plotter / planner when it comes to writing a story? Actually, I am a fly by the seat of my pants type. If I plan or plot, I will not use any of that info. It’s like my brain laughs at me.

5.What was the publishing process like for you, & any advice for aspiring authors? Well this is my first book so I have not got to the publish part yet. The best advice I can give is go to your friends that have been through the process.

6.What has been your highlight since becoming an author? I am not published yet, working on it. But the highlight so far is working with amazing authors. I love the friends I have met so far.

7. Can you share a little of your most recent book with us? And any other books of yours? This book is my debut novel , and this book has everything: love, hate, angst, sex, romance and all in between. Broken Love and Forever Bound will be a trilogy eventually. It’s dark, dirty and daring. I def push the limits.

8.Apart from writing, what do you do in your spare time? I love to read. Last year I read over 1,000 books. Holy cow, now that I see that it’s a lot. But reading helps me escape. I can tune out the world and all the problems with a good book.

9.If you could trade places with any other person for a week, famous or not famous, living or dead, real or fictional, who would it be and why? This is a funny question as I have actually thought about this. I would want to trade places with Marilyn Monroe. She was a sex symbol, beautiful on the inside and out, and who don’t want to say they had a ‘relationship’ with not only a ball player but the president.  She is classic even after her death.

10.Do you have anything that you want to say to your readers? Writers spend lots of time writing for your enjoyment. And all that we ask is that you get something out of our hard work, so always appreciate an author because we have put so much into writing. Will we all be bestsellers, most unlikely not, but we did put our heart and soul into giving what we call a master piece. We love to hear from our fans as they are reason we are authors. So with that being said, we love our fans very much and thank you for reading what we call our master pieces. http://laylastevensauthor.wordpress.comhttps://www.facebook.com/authorlayla.stevens Twitter @authorlayla
