Blogging Made Easy!
I thought I share some WordPress blogging information, to ensure that your blog looks the best it can be. I have been working on this blog for over a couple of years now, and I’ve had to fiddle about with it so much, and at times research the problem!
In no particular order, here are some things that you might want to know. Some of it is pretty self-explanatory, but you’d be suprised at how little some people do know about blogging, and every little helps!
The shortcut for a new paragraph (if you’re post just isn’t getting the spacing correct) is < /br > WITHOUT the spaces, of course.
Another tip, if that doesn’t work, or you find your paragraphs are double spacing, hold the shift key and enter button, to get a normal single spaces paragraph.
To add sub-pages, (pages under menu titles in a drop-down fashion) create a new page as normal. then in your settings, under menu’s, drag the page across so that it sits under the page you want it to be under.
To re-order menu pages, go to your settings, under menu’s, drag the pages up and down to the order that you want.
To create individual post-styles on a page other than the home-page, (which this particular theme doesn’t allow) then select the line button in the Toolbar Toggle above your new posts, to separate them, and add the date if you wish. Just like the line below.
To change picture sizes, when uploading it, click on the pencil icon, and choose from the list sizes, such as full, thumbnail, other.
To add pictures, blog links, stats, Twitter, Facebook feed in the side-bar, go to your settings, select appearance, and widgets, and add them to the specific sidebars.
To add links to other pages, websites etc, write the title, highlight it, and select the ‘link’ button on your Toolbar Toggle of your post.
To add background colours to individual posts etc, go to your text HTML settings of your post, and insert the following HTML code – < div style=”background-color: #COLOURCODE;” > no spaces, and the correct colour code, which you can find online.
To insert video’s into a post, as you would upload photo’s, select ‘add media’ of your post, and ‘insert YouTube,’ or ‘insert ULR’ instead.
To change your blog theme entirely, go to your settings, ‘appearance’ and ‘customise.’
Home page problems? If you’ve changed your blog web address, like I did, and your homepage still links back to your old blog, instead of your new homepage, go to your settings, ‘menu’s’ and type in the new correct homepage web address into that page.
Is there anything else you’d like to know? If so, please comment in the box below and I’ll respond.
